HIGH-PERFORMANCE GLASS MANUFACTURING

Everyone at Kopp Glass takes pride in their meticulous attention to detail. It begins the moment you share your idea with us. Every step of the way we’re focused on producing your glass parts as efficiently and as reliably as possible in our fully integrated manufacturing facility. In the end, our decades of experience in glass manufacturing results in custom glass solutions that conform to your rigorous dimensional, performance, and optical specifications. Our strengths include:

Mold calibration

Design & Mold Making

Early in the custom development process, the experience of our mold makers and engineers is called upon to optimize your glass part for production. Using industry-leading 3D CAD/CAM software, we analyze the configuration and moldability of your design, create complete master drawings and 3D model assemblies, program and complete all CNC machined production of your tooling in-house. Our machinists not only produce high-quality precision glass molds, but they also have years of experience making the fixtures, formers, gauges, and tools that are used throughout the finishing process of your product.

Glass pour test sample

Sampling & Prototyping

To ensure optimal material selection, we thoroughly review your application requirements and recommend ideal glass solutions. We can provide you with glass samples to complete validation testing or evaluate properties like light transmission and absorption.

Once your tooling set is complete, we can produce prototypes and pre-production samples for your approval prior to completing full production runs. Many of our customers require a First Article Inspection (FAI) report in accordance with their industry standard to verify that prescribed production methods have resulted in a product that meets their outlined requirements.

Flexible Production & Integrated Manufacturing

Because Kopp specializes in custom, small-lot glass manufacturing, we always have numerous types of glass in melt. This enables you to explore a variety of glass options with minimal lead times. Some clients also choose to work with us in a contract manufacturing capacity – supplying their own proprietary glass cullet or glass composition for Kopp to melt.

Processing and finishing

Processing, Coating & Finishing

Depending on your specifications, we can perform additional fabrication to your molded glass parts, such as precision polishing, improve their mechanical strength through a heat strengthening process, and even add a performance coating. We can further differentiate your product with the following surface treatments and coating:

  • Glass Enameling
  • Glass Diffusion Treatments
  • ID Stenciling to include unique identifiers like part number, lot number, logo, and more
  • Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) coatings used to suppress static discharge

Product Testing

Product Testing & Quality Control

All of our products pass multiple inspection points to ensure that we meet your dimensional specifications. Many of the products that we manufacture require performance testing to meet an industry specification or requirement. Our in-house team can perform testing to validate:

  • Dimensional requirements
  • Impact Resistance
  • Stress Evaluation
  • Photometric Light Output
  • Thermal Shock
  • Chromaticity and Transmission
