New CNC Lathe Installed at Kopp Glass

We recently installed a state-of-the-art Romi Machine Tools C 620 CNC Lathe in our mold shop. This installation is a continuation of a major capital improvement program that began over a year ago. The new lathe enables automated, precision machining of the mold parts and proprietary tools required for the production of technical glass products. The addition of this machine supports efficiency within our mold shop and reinforces our commitment to providing the highest quality products to their customers.

The addition of the new lathe will enhance Kopp’s ability to offer efficient and precise machining. Our customers can rest assured that Kopp will be able to construct tooling in a timely, accurate fashion. In addition, the lathe will provide us the opportunity to machine larger diameter parts in-house.

The Romi C 620 is a state-of-the-art CNC lathe that has both automatic and manual machining capabilities. This machine has various features which assure rigidity, stability, and accuracy across its full power spectrum. The permanently lubricated, high load capacity, precision bearings deliver maximum vibration absorption and the robust, ribbed structure provides for maximum overall stability allowing the machine to run at maximum capability for longer periods of time. Adam Willsey Adam joined Kopp Glass in 2009 after graduating from the NYS College of Ceramics at Alfred University with a BS in Biomedical Materials Engineering. In 2013, he completed his MS in Materials Science from Alfred University. As the Manager of Research and Engineering, Adam works closely with our engineers and production team to develop new glass compositions that meet our customer's color and transmittance requirements, while ensuring efficiency.
