For example, molded borosilicate glass is ideal for use on exterior aircraft lighting fixtures, equipment gauges and instrumentation or sight portals that require glass that is resistant to heat, shock, scratches or harsh chemicals or any other application where a plastic is inadequate or prone to failure and the high cost of frequent replacement.
